Ingredients
-
2 (16 oz) cans cherry pie filling
1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese
1 large angel food cake
1 (16 oz) ctn Cool Whip
1 1/2 c powdered sugar
Directions
Put cream cheese in a large bowl and let it come to room temperature. Then blend the powdered sugar into the cream cheese.
Fold in the Cool Whip - then break the cake into bite-size bits and fold it into the mixture.
Put 1/2 of the mixture into a trifle bowl (or other clean -preferably clear glass - bowl), then pour 1 can of the pie filling over the mixture. Add remainder of the mixture and pour the 2nd can of pie filling over it. Cover & refrigerate.
You want the cherries & sauce to slide down the sides - making a pattern.
Any pie filling can be used - like peach or apple.
For the 4th of July - try using 1 can of cherry filling and 1 can of blueberry filling to make a red, white, & blue trifle!
