Spiced Apple Oatmeal
Submitted by: KATYMARIAIntroduction
I make this in a big batch and eat it with nonfat yogurt in the morning, just put it into little cups and microwave for a fast breakfast that will keep you full until lunch. Also, dont skip the salt, it adds a rich, buttery taste that makes you think you are eating a desert rather than a healthy breakfast! My family says it is like eating applecrumble all mixed up. Ingredients
-
3/4 Cup Oats
3/4 Cup Skim Milk
3/4 Cup Applesauce
1/2 an Apple (or a whole if you like more fruit)
small handfull of raisins
Cinnamon (to taste)
Nutmeg (to taste)
Ginger (to taste)
Splenda (to taste)
Salt (about 1/2 teaspoon)
Directions
Chop the apple, and add it into a saucepan on medium heat with the remaining ingredients until cooked through. You can also make it in the microwave, just heating through until the oats are cooked. I make a big batch and scoop out about 3/4 cup for breakfast, microwave it for 2 minutes and then eat it with about 1/2 a cup of plain, nonfat, yogurt.
