Make Your Own Instant Oatmeal Packets! (Apple Cinnamon Flavor)



Introduction

An inexpensive, healthy version of instant oatmeal. I make up a few dozen of these and keep them in the fridge for a quickie breakfast. To make it a complete meal, just add a scoop of protein powder to each baggie! An inexpensive, healthy version of instant oatmeal. Ingredients

    Each ziplock baggie will contain:

    1/4 instant oats + 2T powdered instant oats
    1 T nonfat powdered milk
    1/4 small apple, sliced and baked
    1/2 t cinnamon
    1 t honey

Directions

Powder some instant oats in your blender, food processor or magic bullet (my fav) and set aside.

Spray a cooking sheet with Pam and bake the sliced, cored apples at 300 degrees until they are crispy (you can also buy dried apple slices and skip this step). Pulse them in your food processor until they are just littel chunks.

Measure ingredients into ziplock baggies as listed, except honey.

To prepare: combine one baggie of mix with approx 2/3c boiling water (use more or less to desired creaminess). Top with honey and serve hot.

There are a lot of great variations for this recipe - just use your imagination! I've used crunched up banana chips and mixed in peanut butter, any variety of dried fruit, even organic chocolate chips. Just be sure to store in the fridge or freezer as there are no preservatives.
