Vegetable Upma

Introduction

This is a quick and tasy South Indian snack. This is a quick and tasy South Indian snack.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1/2 cup Semolina
    1 cup frozen peas or any mixed vegetables
    2 Tbsp oil
    1 tsp black mustard seeds
    2 Tbsp Urad dal
    1" piece of Ginger
    1 small jalapeno
    1/4 cup Dry roasted Cashew (optional)
    Salt 1 tsp

Directions

Heat oil in a sauce pan. add msutard seeds. When mustard finishes spluttering, add urad dal, ginger, chopped jalapeno and the semolina. Roast it for a few min unril semolina starts to change color. Add the peas, 2 cups of hot water and salt. Cook until all water has evaporated.

For a variation you can fry 1 chopped onion also.
