Swiss Steak

Introduction

A very good tender steak, with rich tomato sauce. I serve this with brown rice. A very good tender steak, with rich tomato sauce. I serve this with brown rice.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 to 2 lbs. round steak
    1/2 tbsp. Crisco
    6 tbsp. flour
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp garlic powder
    2 cups stewed tomatoes
    1 small onion, sliced

Directions

1. mix flour with seasonings.
2. cut steak into serving size pieces, put steak into a gallon size ziploc bag
3. pour flour int oziploc bag, ound staek with a tenderizer mallot until flat and most of the flour in pounded into the steak.
4. in a skillet, heat Crisco until melted
5. place steak and brown on both sides
6. add 2 cups of stewed tomatoes and 1 small onion sliced
7. cover
8. cook over low heat or place in a 300 degree oven for 2 to 2-1/2 hours, uncovering the last 1/2 hour to thicken the sauce.
