Introduction

This is a low sodium dirty rice that I make with beef instead of turkey. It's the bay leaf that makes the taste. I use whole leaves and remove them just before serving. Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    White Rice, long grain, 2 cup
    Water, tap, 4 cup (8 fl oz)
    GV Beef Broth Ready To Serve, 1 cup
    Ground beef, lean, 16 oz
    Onions, raw, .5 cup, chopped
    Garlic, 1 clove
    Bay Leaf, 3 tbsp, crumbled

Directions

Saute onions til clear and add garlic and bay leaf. Stir until well blended. Add beef and cook until brown. Drain. Add rice, water and broth. Mix well. Bring to a boil. Stir again and lower heat and simmer until rice is tender. Remove bay leaves before serving. Add bell pepper, green onion or other seasonings to your taste. Salt and pepper to taste. This makes 6 to 8 servings depending on size of portions.
