Directions

Wash, turn and core a head of cabbage. Place core end down in saucepan containing about 3 inches of boiling, salted water. Cover and simmer about 3 minutes. Drain and cool. Separate leaves from cabbage head. Return any leaves that are too stiff to roll tback to the water for a few more minutes. Drain leaves and dry well.
Combine onion, beaf, oats, tomato sauce, egg, cinnamon, garlic, and salt. Mix well. Divide meat mixture into 24 equal parts. Roll a lightly salted cabbage leaf around each portion of meat. Secure with a toothpick if desired. Place cabbage rolls, seam side down in a large shallow baking pan. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for an hour or until tender. Move cabbage rolls to a serving platter with a slotted spoon and remove toothpicks if used. Stir tomato paste into remaining juices and serve over cabbage rolls. Makes 12 servings of 2 rolls each.
