Introduction

My grandmother made this when I was a kid... best chocolate cake ever! I just wish it was lower in fat! My grandmother made this when I was a kid... best chocolate cake ever! I just wish it was lower in fat!
Number of Servings: 20

Ingredients

    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 stick butter
    2 eggs beaten
    2 squares chocolate
    1 3/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    12 oz. Coca Cola
    1/3 c. evaporated milk
    1/4 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 square chocolate
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. salt

Directions

Mix together:
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
2 eggs beaten
2 squares chocolate

Sift together:
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda

Add alternately with:
12 oz. Coca Cola

Bake 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees in a 13/9 inch pan.

Chocolate Icing:

1/3 c. evaporated milk
1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 square chocolate
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt

Stir all ingredients except vanilla constantly. Boil one minute. When finished bubbling, add vanilla. Beat by hand until warm. Pour over cake.

Makes approximately 20 2x2 inch slices

  • How about substituting diet cola, and splenda? Not sure this can be low-fat exactly, but its cake... one of those things you just have to splurge a little on lol. - 8/2/08
