Scotcheroos / Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Bars

Introduction

No matter what you call them, these are great! I cut out half the sugar from the original recipe, and at about 250 calories, this is a treat you can have with little guilt. No matter what you call them, these are great! I cut out half the sugar from the original recipe, and at about 250 calories, this is a treat you can have with little guilt.
Number of Servings: 24

Ingredients

    6 Cups Rice Krispies cereal (or generic)
    1 Cup Light Corn Syrup
    1 Cup Creamy Peanut Butter
    1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
    6 oz Chocolate Chips (1/2 bag)
    5.5 oz Butterscotch Chips (1/2 bag)

Directions

Measure 6 cups of cereal into a large mixing bowl, then set aside.

Mix corn syrup, peanut butter, and sugar in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in microwave at 30-second intervals, mixing between each time, until peanut butter is melted and mixture is smooth. Pour over cereal and mix thoroughly. Press into a 9 x 13 pan with spatula.

Pour chocolate and butterscotch chips into the same bowl in which you heated the peanut butter mixture, then microwave at 10-15 second intervals, mixing in between, until melted together and smooth. Top mixture in pan and spread until even.

Allow to cool and set before cutting into 24 squares. (Can be put into the refridgerator if you are in a hurry!)

Makes 24 bars.
