Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken

Introduction

This is a delicious chicken recipe that my family loves This is a delicious chicken recipe that my family loves
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    4 tsp brown sugar
    12 ounces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
    1 clove garlic
    2 Tbsp butter
    Dash black pepper

Directions

This makes four servings, 3 oz per person
1. Melt the butter in a frying pan
2. Brown the garlic in the butter
3. Add chicken breasts to garlic and butter and cook thoroughly, adding pepper as you like it.
4. When chicken is fully cooked add brown sugar on top of each breast
5. Allow the brown sugar to melt into the chicken (about 5 minutes)
6. Serve with your favorite carb, and veggie or salad. We usually have rice or noodles and carrots or green beans.

    Use Montreal Steak Marinade instead of salt and pepper. Sprinkle the dry marinade right out of the pouch onto each side of the chicken. It's loaded with garlic and peppercorn, a little goes a long way. When done, remove chicken and stir cooked rice into skillet to pick up garlic and brown sugar!! - 2/26/09

    We really liked this recipe. I used skinless, boneless thighs as that is what I had. I also melted the butter in an oven proof dish, added the garlic, salt, pepper and brown sugar to the dish and then added the chicken, coating it well. I baked it at 400 for 50 minutes, turning chicken in middle. - 5/22/09

    My whole family loved this recipe. I served with sweet potatoes and brown rice. The sauce for the chicken is great to add to the rice. It was a very tasty meal. Will add to the rotation. - 2/23/09

    I put my garlic through a press first (2 cloves) and lightly browned them before adding strips of chicken breast. I also substituted EVOO for the butter and added a little poultry seasoning. Will make again. - 7/8/09

    This was delicious! My husband is trying to lose weight, but I've been having a hard time finding low calorie dinners that he still finds enjoyable. This one he told me I can definitely make again! He loved it! I served it with white rice and salad. I cut the chicken into smaller pieces (2" wide) - 3/4/09

    This was a fabulous dish. Everyone I serve it to loves it. I added a sliced onion along with a jar of mushrooms and about 1/2 cup of cooking wine. Serve with mushroom rice and a green vegi. This is in my recipes - 1/29/09

    Hooray! Finally, a chicken recipe that my extremely picky teenage daughter will eat! After I removed the chicken from the skillet, I sauteed some green, red, and yellow peppers and some onion, then tossed my serving of chicken and sauce back in the pan to mix it all together. YUMMY! - 12/30/10

    This was delicious AND my 3.5 year old ate it! I'm always looking for recipes the wholefamily will eat. 2 TBS of butter just seemed like a lot (not so much for calories but just for the way I cook) so I used less, and more garlic.     oh my god this was so good. i increased the garlic because i love it my sister who is not one for trying new things is still raving about it and has given the green light to make it again her only request is i increase the amount of sauce that is on the chicken we had it with rice& mixed vegetables - 11/26/08

    I adjusted the recipe some.. i chopped up the chicken into small pieces because of time, and i made this with brown rice and mixed it all together. i also added spinach - it seemed to need something since i mixed it with the rice. but this recipe is AMAZING! - 5/30/10

    This one was just okay for us. Perhaps it would be better to make a brown sugar and garlic marinade, because we felt like the flavor was only on the outside of the chicken. The rest of it was pretty bland. It's a good idea to start with, though. - 7/1/09

    Wow, what an interesting mix. I used Olive oil instead of butter and lemon pepper as someone else had suggested. I also cooked some yellow peppers in the "sauce" that was left.
    Everything was great! Next time I think I want to try Veggie pepper though. - 1/23/09

    This is def a favorite. I used extra garlic. The first time i made it the garlic burned a little. So now i first cook the garlic in the butter for a couple minutes. Then i butterfly the chicken and put the chunks of garlic inside the chicken. VERY TASTEY!!!!! - 6/9/09

    I made this and it was to die for! I was afraid the chicken might be too sweet, so I added chili powder, along with salt and pepper. It gave it that extra kick!
    I served this with wheat couscous and garlic green beans top with lemon zest.

    This was amazing! As a self proclaimed grab and go eater, this took me about 10 minutes to make and 2 min to clean up. Even my 4 y/o picky eater loved it! I originally planned something else and the chicken was spiced with cilantro, sweet basil, SS&P and other spices and this still tasted AMAZING! - 7/8/09

    Wow this was sooo good the entire family LOVED it. I did add some lemon pepper and I coated the chicken in the brown sugar and garlic instead of the clove. I cut the chicken into chunks and cooked it. I served it with thin speg noodles and several veggies! Imixed remaining sauce with noodles so good - 4/20/09

    This was great! I butterflied my chicken for faster cooking, and this helped the brown sugar melt faster too. After cooking, I shredded the chicken and tossed it with some spinach for a super yummy salad (with a lime/EVOO dressing). Tasty! Can't wait to try it with salmon, too!!! - 10/19/08

    This was great! I loved the sweetness that the brown sugar adds. I didn't use as much as the recipe called for - I just sprinkled a little on the top of each piece with my fingers. Therefore, some pieces had more sugar than others. I definitely enjoyed the ones with a little more sugar than 'plain.' - 10/14/08

    I made this a few nights ago and it was delicious. The chicken tastes strongly of butter, garlic, and brown sugar. I reccomend trying oil too if you don't like the strong butter taste. - 4/10/09
