Introduction

This is to be served over rice, but I ended up having it over pasta and toast. it was just so good. This is to be served over rice, but I ended up having it over pasta and toast. it was just so good.
Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

    2 tablespoons oil
    1 large onion, cut into pieces
    2 garlic cloves, peeled
    1 teaspoon ginger
    1 teaspoon cumin
    1 teaspoon turmeric
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    1/4 teaspoon allspice
    1 1/2 cup slow cooked lentils
    1 1/2 cup slow cooked kidney beans
    3 cups water
    salt and pepper to taste

Directions

pour oil into slow cooker and set on high. In blender, puree onion, garlic and ginger. Add to cooker. Cook to mellow flavor and assemble other ingredients. Stir in cumin, turmeric, cayenne, and allspice. Cook, stirring for 30 seconds. Turn setting to low. Add lentils, kidney beans and water. Cover and cook 8 hours. Season with salt and pepper. Serve over basmati rice.
