Apple Crisp

Introduction

If using sweeter apples, you could probably cut the sugar back by 1 tbsp. I used tart apples, so I used more sugar. I could still taste the "tart" in the apples. Ingredients

    2 cups peeled and sliced apples
    1 tsp lemon juice
    1 cup unsweetened applesauce
    4 Tbsp brown sugar
    6 Tbsp instant oatmeal
    3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
    2 Tbsp chopped pecans
    2/8 tsp cinnamon
    1/8 tsp nutmeg
    2 Tbsp unsweetened applesauce

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 325F.
2. Combine apples and lemon juice in a 2 quart baking dish. Mix in 1 cup applesauce.
3. In a small bowl: combine 2 Tbsp brown sugar, 2 Tbsp oatmeal & 1 Tbsp flour.
In a second bowl: combine 2 Tbsp brown sugar, 4 Tbsp oatmeal, 2 Tbsp flour, pecans, cinnamon & nutmeg.
4. Mix bowl without nuts into apples.
5. Combine 1-2 Tbsp applesauce into bowl with nuts. Mix until mixture resembles large crumbs.
6. Crumble topping onto apple mixture.
7. Bake for 25 minutes.

*If more topping is desired, do not split into 2 bowls.

Makes 4 servings.
