Introduction

A slimmed down fried rice recipe that uses instant brown rice. I'm not sure about the taste of this using a sugar substitute. A slimmed down fried rice recipe that uses instant brown rice. I'm not sure about the taste of this using a sugar substitute.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    2 tsp sesame oil
    ¾ cup chopped green onions
    ½ cup chopped red bell pepper
    2 cloves of garlic, minced
    2 cups water
    1 cup uncooked instant brown rice
    2 egg whites
    1 Tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce(Kikkoman was used)
    2 tsp sugar

Directions

Heat oil in nonstick skillet over medium high heat until hot. Add onions, bell pepper and garlic; cook and stir 1 minute. Add water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; stir in rice and egg whites,. Simmer 10 minutes or until rice is tender, stirring frequently. Stir in soy sauce and sugar. Cook 3 -5 minutes more until sugar caramelizes.
Makes 6 servings
