IntroductionThis is a HOT and fresh salsa option with a lot less sodium than jarred salsa! This is a HOT and fresh salsa option with a lot less sodium than jarred salsa!
6 habanero peppers (more if you like it super hot!)
1 tsp garlic, minced
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp white vinegar
1/2 C onion, chopped fine
1 can of diced tomatoes
1 fresh tomato, chopped
When chilies are done, let cool and remove stems and most of the seeds. Seeds=Spice. Place chili pieces in a blender with 1/2 the can of tomatoes (juice included), garlic, salt and vinegar. Blend until a smooth paste is formed. (I use a Magic Bullet.) Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl, add chili/tomato paste and stir. Season to taste.
Options: garlic salt, cilantro, canned green chilies.
1 heaping tablespoon of this salsa is less than 5 calories.
