The "not meatless" posters probably meant that it's not *vegetarian* if it has actual beef broth in it. Just because something doesn't have chunks of meat in it, doesn't mean that it's *vegetarian*. I agree with other posters that David probably meant vegetarian "beef" broth. - 3/1/09

  • Wow didn't realize people could be so petty just change it to your needs and call it a day. - 3/12/09

  • I believe the poster meant "There is NO actual meat in this product" and agree with Tania, substitute veggie broth for the beef broth. Its cooking... not rocket science! (wink, wink) - 1/9/09

  • Ok, people add veggie broth instead! Has no one ever made a substitution when cooking? This looks good, I'm going to try this week! My husband loves burgers and is looking for a healthy substitute! - 1/3/09

  • There is meatless beef broth, it doesn't neccessarily mean REAL beef broth. - 1/3/09

  • I took some liberties by using shiitake mushrooms instead of portabellas, the liquid from rehydrating the shiitakes nstead of beef broth and 1 TBSP of chipotle chili instead of liquid smoke...and they came out awesome!! Sometimes you just need someone else's recipe to get ya going...thanks David!! - 12/8/08

  • Maybe he meant No Beef Broth? Better Than Bouillon makes one. I haven't tried it but the No Chicken Broth and the Veggie Base are O.u.t.s.t.a.n.d.i.n.g! - 12/1/08

  • Same as Teresa, if there is beef broth in the recipe, it is not meatless. - 11/13/08
