Dochappycamper's Quick and Easy Chili

Submitted by: DOCHAPPYCAMPER

Introduction

This is a great chili that can slow cook in a crockpot or on the stove. It's also easy to make large batches for parties and it freezes well. This is a great chili that can slow cook in a crockpot or on the stove. It's also easy to make large batches for parties and it freezes well.

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds of ground turkey
2 15 ounce cans of stewed tomatoes or
    diced tomatoes
2 15 ounce cans of tomato sauce
2 15 ounce cans of dark red kidney beans drained
    o.5 large onion chopped
1 medium to large green bell pepper chopped
1 tsp of ground cumin(or to taste)
1 tsp of garlic powder (or to taste)
1 tsp of salt (or to taste)
    1/4 tsp of black pepper
    3 tablespoons of chili powder

Directions

In a large skillet, brown the ground turkey busting it up into smaller pieces as it cooks. Drain and either put it into a crockpot or a large enough pot to hold all the ingredients.

For the crock pot:: put the meat and the rest of the ingredients and spices in and stir to mix up well. Set the crockpot for 8-10 hours on low or 4-5 hours on high.

For the stove top: put the meat and the rest of the ingredients and spices into a large pot, stir well and cover. Set at low to medium heat stirring occassionally to keep the bean from sticking to the bottom until the onions and peppers start to get softer and it is all hot and bubbly. Depending on the size of the pot, it usially takes about 30-40 minutes.
