Brenda's Blackberry Cobbler

Introduction

Homemade cobbler by Brenda - Very Good but I'm working on it to make it healthier! Homemade cobbler by Brenda - Very Good but I'm working on it to make it healthier!
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    3 Cups Berries
    1 Cup Sugar
    1/3 Cup Margarine
    1 Cup Flour
    1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
    1 Cup Milk

Directions

Combine berries, 1/4 cups of sugar and 2 tablespoons of water - let stand for 5 minutes.

In a 9x9x2 inch backing pan, melt margarine or butter in a 350 degree oven.

Stir flour, 3/4 sugar and baking powder with milk.

Remove pan from oven and pour batter atop butter - spoon undrained berries atop.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.

  • This is just OK. Cobbler is supposed to have crisp crust and a runny inside. This is more like a wad of super soft crust with some fruit stuck on top in a few places. Very dry. I even used extra blackberries since they are getting ripe in my garden.

    My quest is still on to find the right cobbler - 6/2/12
