Apple Pie

    Pie Contents:
    Granulated Sugar, 1/2 cup
    Granulated 1/2 cup, packed (remove)
    Cornstarch, 3 Tbsp unpacked (remove)
    Cinnamon, ground, 1/2 tsp (remove)
    Cloves, ground, 1/8 tsp (remove)
    Apples, fresh, 12 large (3-1/4" dia) (approx 2 per lb (remove)
    *Canola Oil, 2 tbsp (remove)
    *Lemon Juice, 2 Tbsp. lemon yields (remove)
    Pie Pastry Shell:
    *Flour, white, 2 cup (remove)
    *Flour, white, 2TBSP. (remove)
    Salt, 1 tsp. (remove)
    Shortening, .3/4 cup (remove)
    Shortening, 2 tbsp (remove)
    Egg, fresh, 1 large (remove)
    Salt, 1 tsp (remove

Peel apples
Cut into 1/2 inch pieces.
pour 2 TBSP. oil in skillet.
Put apples in warmed pan
Sprinkle with mixture of sugar cornstarch,cinnamon, salt ,cloves. Gently cook on stove, stir often to avoid scorching sugar.
Cut together flour dry ingrediants.
Add Crisco cut together until it is form of small peas. add a small amount of cold water.
Form a flat circle with dough. Refrigerate 30 min.
Divide dough into 2 balls.
Roll out bottom crust leaving enough to crimp edges.
Lay crust in ungreased pie tin.
Gently press into pan. Poke randomly with fork.
Lay apples on lower crust.
Roll out top crust.
Lay on top of apples.
Pinch together edges of lower and upper crust.
Whip egg with 2 TBSP cold water.
Brush Pie Crust with egg mixture.
Cut a 4 small slits in the very center of the crust.
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 min.
Lower oven temp to 350 and bake another 25 min.
Cover edges of pie crust with foil if they start to get too brown.

I made this recipe from a magazine there must have been a misprint as it has waaay too many apples. I would recommend using only 3/4 of the prescribed apples and making one and a half of the Pastry recipe as I found I needed a little more pie crust to finish.
