Slow Cooked Beef Stew

Introduction

I promise this is the best beef stew you will ever have. It is made with round steak, which cooks more tender than stew beef, but stew beef can be substituted if not available. Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    1 round steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
    3-4 red potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes (depending on size)
    4-5 celery stalks, chopped (depending on size)
    1/2 medium onion diced
    5 medium carrots, chopped
    1 can tomato soup
    1/4 cup worscheschire sauce
    1 beef boullion cube or 1 tsp boullion
    1tsp garlic powder
    dash salt and pepper

Directions

Combine all ingredients in slow cooker. Cook on low for 6 hours.

    This stew was DELICIOUS! The recipe did not say how much water to add (only said a can of tomato soup). I added a can of water, and more as needed during the day. I also added barley. This recipe is worth making! It's delicious! - 12/19/09

  • I have made this stew many times. I LOVE IT. I always say i'm going to make a different stew, and ALWAYS end up making this one. I add peas and rhuttabegga. Freezes great. - 5/15/11

  • Very good! Used 1 lb round steak. I added a couple extra red potatoes, to suit my guys. Did not add any water--there was plenty of juice. About an hr before serving, took out a couple spoonfuls of juice and stirred in about 1/2 T cornstarch, as we like our stew pretty thick. Will make again! - 2/16/11

  • This was pretty good. Some of my potatoes were undercooked so I will cut them smaller next time. I also used stew beef instead of round steak. We enjoyed it though, thank you. - 12/30/08
