Chocolate Chip cookies

Submitted by: MOMSCHRIEF

Introduction

This is an old fashioned recipe. Most people don't use Crisco any more, but this was for a special project that needed many doz. of cookies. It is surprising that one cookie is only 112 calories. (But the fat content is not healthy.) This is an old fashioned recipe. Most people don't use Crisco any more, but this was for a special project that needed many doz. of cookies. Ingredients

*Shortening, Crisco, 12 tbsp (3/4 cup)
Brown Sugar, 1 1/4 cup, packed
    Milk, nonfat, 2 tbs
    Vanilla Extract, 1 tsp
    Egg, fresh, 1 large
    *Flour, white, 1 3/4 cup
    Salt, 1 tsp
    Baking Soda, 3/4 tsp
Semisweet chocolate, 1 cup chips (6 oz package)

Directions

Combine shortening, sugar, milk and vanilla in a large bowl. Mix until well blended. Add egg and mix well. In a separate bowl combine flour, salt and baking soda. Mix well. Add to shortening/sugar mixture until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies or 11 to 13 minutes for crisp cookies. Makes 3 doz. 2 to 2 1/2 inch cookies.
NOTE: It helps to reserve about 1/2 cup of the flour for mixing with the chips and then stiring both in at the end. The chips seem to mix in better.
