I like this, except for the canned soup. watching sodium here as well. Sub a mix of dry milk, sodium free boullion and cornstarch to save a lot of sodium. :) - 12/21/08

I think I'll leave out the cheese and switch from cream of celery to 98% fat free Cheddar Cheese soup... that way it'll be perfect for me: Less calories, MORE CHEESE! :) - 12/15/08

I added some garlic and dijon and it really added a nice kick to what is going to be a great comfort food standby for these frigidly cold winter days. Those that complalin about bland taste need to figure out what spices are all about and vary to their liking instead of complaining! - 12/14/08

I haven't made this yet but plan to. I like the cheddar cheese soup instead of reg. cheese. Sounds like a good idea for leftover baked ham instead of pea soup. I will cut the ham in chunks instead of slices tho. - 12/27/08

Cut back on the cheese to 3/4 cup as I was using whole fat old cheddar. I used the mix (recipe here on SP) to make the 'celery' soup. Very good!! - 8/11/11

I replaced the ham with chicken and some of teh potatoes with a couple of layers of frozen mixed vegetables. Turned out quite tasty, but not quite creamy enough. I'm thinking of adding 1/2 Cup of fat free sour cream to the soup. - 12/21/08

I can't understand why we would want to eat ham - ok, it is 98% fat free...but the dish would taste great without it. And, yes - the low sodium soup would be fine. I am making scalloped potatoes for my husband's work Xmas lunch and I think i'll try it first....PLUS they are having a ham already.. - 12/20/08

  • Whole family loved it. I used cheddar cheese soup as recommended by some others and used enough of the ingredients to fill up my crock pot. Next time I will cut the amount of cheddar cheese soup with low sodium cream of celery or cream of potato since it seemed very salty to me. Awesome great meal! - 9/9/13

  • Good butt cooked in less than 8 hours on low. My large crock pot runs hot so I would not fix this one while away from home. The ham I used was not the leanest so was a little more fattening than the recipe called for but was still good. - 1/20/13

  • After we each ate a serving, I had to give the rest away. So much salt that it burned my taste buds! I used turkey ham, which may have more salt than the other and 98% fat free broc/cheese soup. Will make again, but will use low salt soup and add no salt to layers. - 1/13/11

  • My "meat"-aterian husband and boys loved this. Again, I made with it with low sodium cheddar cheese soup instead of celery soup and doubled the recipe because I have a large household. My sons have requested that this be made again. LOVED IT!!! - 1/5/11

  • Thought it was bland. Will probably use cheddar cheese soup, and add garlic powder. Will also chop onions into smaller pieces-kids did not like sliced onions. High in sodium-will omit the extra salt. Should be salty enough from the ham (I always use turkey ham). - 12/12/10
