Ingredients

    * Split Peas, 454 grams (1 lb bag)
    * Water, tap, 6 cup (8 fl oz)
    * Celery, raw, 1 cup, diced
    * Carrots, raw, 1 cup, chopped
    * Onions, raw, 1 medium (2-1/2" dia)
    * Salt, 2 tsp

Directions

Place into pot or slow cooker; water, entire bag of peas.
Turn heat on low.
Chop the vegetables, I like to chop them up into big chunks.
Add the salt.
Cover and let cook.

Slow cooker 6 -8 hours, if you can give it a boost on high for 30 minutes to an hour, and the soup will be thicker when it's ready to be served.

If cooking on the stove top, turn up the heat to medium/high and cook until the peas become mushy. Stir, reduce heat to low or off.
