Ingredients

    1 cup (2 sticks) butter
    1/2 cup sugar
    2 tsps. vanilla
    2 cups sifted regular all purpose flour
    1/4 cup cocoa
    1 tbsp. instant coffee powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 cup finely chopped nuts
    1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries
    Confectioners' sugar

Directions

In a mixing bowl, cream butter; gradually add sugar and vanilla; beat until light & fluffy.

Sift flour, cocoa, coffee power & salt together. Gradually add to creamed mixture.

Blend in nuts and cherries. Chill dough.

Shape into 1 inch balls & place on baking sheet (they do not melt down).

Bake in preheated 325 F oven for 20 mins.; remove to wire rack. Let cool for a few mins. While warm, roll in confectioners' sugar. Yields 6 dozen.
