Yummy! Great "comfort" food!
We ADDED: salt, pepper, & Italian seasonings to the ground meat, and parsley to the cottage cheese mixture.
SUBSTITUTED: ground chicken for turkey, and
Pillsbury reduced-fat cresent rolls (4 triangles/half a tube-put in a square pan) for Bisquick.
OMITTED: tomato - 1/15/09

This recipe was very good. I would use a low fat pastry recipe that rolls out easier than trying to roll out bisquick which seemed to be harder. You can keep the calories the same if you are careful. Thought MISSABELLA had a great idea by using the Pillsbury Reduced Fat Cresent Rolls as dough. - 2/1/09

This is GREAT! My husband very rarely likes my cooking but he LOVES this dish! The first time I made it, I forgot to put the tomatoes on top and it was still delicious. When I did it right, though, the cooked tomatoes were scrumptious and kept the cheese from getting too dry or crusty. A+ recipe - 2/1/09

YUM!!! My husband doesn't eat onion and (thinks) he hates ground turkey, so I made two pies, one ground turkey with onion, and the other with ground beef no onion. Only problem I had was, I added some drained Rotel and it made my crust soggy on bottom. But it was still good!! Family loved it! - 2/2/09

Next time I make this, I will add more seasoning- like a taco seasoning to the turkey- and serve with sliced avacados and a wedge of lettuce. We also added tabasco sauce to give it a bit more punch. With the changes, I will make this again. - 2/3/09

I usually spice it up too but wasn't sure what all I should put on this recipe builder.

This dish is easy and delicious. We absolutely loved it! It's hard to stop eating it though so be careful. I did tweak the recipe a bit. It would be a bit bland without spices. I added more garlic, a little salt, pepper, oregano, garlic powder and chopped tomatoes. I would try ricotta next time too. - 1/30/09

So, I improvised and used 92% lean ground beef to the recipe and it was fabulous!! I am not a fan of cottage cheese but it worked beautifully in this recipe. My only complaint is that it's a little dry on day two for leftovers however that is probably due to my elevation in Colorado Springs. - 1/14/09

This was really good! I omitted the tomato because neither me or my boyfriend care for tomatoes. I'll definitely make it again, it was really good, especially for an easy recipe. Next time, I'll add some spices to the turkey mixture because it was a little bland.
Also, it's good with ketchup. - 5/1/13

This recipe is so good I added diced tomatoes, cheese, the egg, and teriyak sauce to the ground chicken mixture. Then i added more cheese on top. I also use the crescent rolls. Thank you other reviewer! It came to 264 my way. So good with a little sour cream! I absolutely will make this again thanks - 3/16/13

This was excellent!! Not sure about the 8 servings though... To me it looked about 6 portions. Maybe I did something wrong? But it was absolutely delicious. We added some green onion to the mix, and used halved cherry tomatoes on top with a sprinkle of fresh parsley. DEFINITE keeper for us! - 2/26/13

This was easy and very good. I used the Reduced Fat Crescent Rolls like one of the users recommended and I used the whole roll, half as a bottom crust and the other half as a top crust. It added about 45 calories per serving. Next time, I think I will try using ricotta instead of cottage cheese. - 2/4/13

Liked this a lot. Used more spices in the meat and also used extra lean ground beef instead of the turkey. Also, the store had no heart smart bisquick so I used 'Bisquick Complete with whole grain.' My fiance is not a fan of tomatoes so I sliced an extra onion and marinated it in balsamic. Topped it - 1/12/13
