IntroductionPalak Dal Spinach and Lentils Palak Dal Spinach and Lentils
1 cup yellow or red lentils, washed.
5-6 cups water
1 teaspoon turmeric
salt to taste
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
4 cloves garlic chopped
1 onion chopped
1 tomato chopped or 3 tablespoons tomato sauce
1/4 cup chopped bell pepper
1 package frozen chopped spinach (10 ounces) or 1 bunch spinach chopped.
3 tablespoons lemon juice
cilantro or chopped green onion to garnish
Add the spinach and cook until the spinach is tender and mixed with the lentils.
Add the remaining ingredients and stir through and allow to heat for another 1/2 hour or until mixture is bubbling in crockpot.
Garnish with cilantro or chopped green onion and serve with rice.
