baked turkey sausage penne




Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 large turkey sausage, any flavor
    12 oz whole wheat penne
    1 cup asparagus spears
    3 cups tomato sauce
    1/2 t dreid basil
    1/4 t garlic powder
    1/4 t sea salt
    4 oz part skim mozza
    1/4 cup parmesan

Directions

prepare noodles. Throw asparagus in the pot for the last minute. Drain and return to pot.

pan fry sausage and cut into rounds. Add tomato sauce and spices and simmer 3 to 4 minutes. Add sauce to penne and asparagus and stir.

Coat 2 quart baking dish with cooking spray. and 1/2 penne mixture and sprinkle with 2/3 mozza. Add rest of penne, mozza and parmesan. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes.

  • Absolutely incredible! I just loved this recipe! I was worried that there weren't enough spices, so I added Oregano and Black Pepper. I wasn't considering the spice factor of the sausage but it was still perfect with Italian sweet turkey sausage. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
