Rice and Sausage

Introduction

Very yummy on a cold day. Really easy to make! Very yummy on a cold day. Really easy to make!
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    12 oz Shurfresh Smoked Sausage (or any smoked sausage, this is just what I had on hand for the values...and it's cheap)
    2 c Long Grain Brown Rice
    1 tbsp Cayenne Pepper

Directions

~Slice meat to basically look like quarters (how my mom described cutting the meat when I was learning!)
~Add to skillet with enough water to cover sliced meat
~Cook until meat is browned
(While meat is cooking, cook rice to directions on box)
~Drain water, add more water to the pan, swish around to get any "left overs" and drain again
~sprinkle with cayenne pepper to tasting (I like it hot)

~to serve: 1/2 c rice, 1/4 of meat per person

~cook time depends on the cooking temp- faster time for higher temp
~I sometimes put the cayenne pepper in with the rice
