Introduction

The Garrod family had this dish frequently. While Mom Garrod has passed on, her recipe lives on in her handwriting and when we make it, we are definitely thinking of her. It is a simple, healthy recipe and easy to make if time is a concern. The Garrod family had this dish frequently. Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1.5 lb chop suey meat (1 lb beef stew meat and 1/2 lb. pork)
    .5 bunch of celery OR mushrooms OR both
    1 onion
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 can bean sprouts (fresh can be used)
    chop suey vegetables (baby corn, water chestnuts, snap peas)
    2 cups water
    3 tblsp. low sodium soysauce

    White or Brown rice.

    Chow Mein Noodles

Directions

Brown meat and ingredients (celery, mushrooms (optional), onion, and salt and pepper) in frying pan - then add rest of ingredients.

Simmer until done.
Add thickening of flour mixed with water.

Serve over rice (white or brown as preferred).

Top with Chow Mein noodles.
