Chicken Tagine with dates and honey
Number of Servings: 6
Ingredients

1 kg chicken peices (I use boneless breasts)
2 T olive oil
2 medium onions, finely sliced
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 t ground coriander
1 t ground ginger
1 t ground turmeric
1 t ground cinnamon
1/2 t chili powder
1/4 t ground nutmeg
1 1/2 c chicken broth
1 c water
1/2 c seedless dates, halved
1/4 c honey
1/2 c blanched almonds, toasted
1 T chopped fresh cilantro leaves
Directions
1. Cut chicken into strips. Heat i T oil in pan, add chicken in batches and brown, remove and drain on absorbant paper.
2. heat remaining oil, add onion, garlic and spices. Cook until onions are soft.
3. return chicken to pan with stock and water. Simmer covered for 1 hour. Remove lid and simmer for 30 minutes until sauce thickens. Stir in dates, honey and nuts and sprinkle with coriander.
