2 cups whole wheat flour 1 tsp cream of tartar 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp soda 1/3 cup sugar 2/3 cup chopped dried organic blueberries (no added sugar) 4 T butter 3/4 cup buttermilk
Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 450 degrees. Whisk together flour, cream of tartar, salt, soda, sugar, and fruit. With pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Working quickly, pour in buttermilk and stir ingredients together with rubber spatula until you have a soft , slightly wet dough. Do not overprocess or scones will be tough. Turn dough out onto well floured surface. Divide into two balls and with each ball, roll out until 1/2 inch thick and cut into 6 wedges like a pie. Repeat with other ball. Place wedges onto greased baking sheet and bake until scones are lightly browned, 12 to 15 minutes. Serve Warm.
