Venison Stew

Submitted by: LORAIA

Introduction

A low fat, low sodium tasty dinner. This is a relatively dry stew that can be served on a plate. If you like your stew to have a bit of broth, add water as needed in the last 10 minutes of cooking. Ingredients

1/2 pound venison, cut into bite size
    1 cup sliced carrot
    1/2 C chopped onion
    4 C potatoes cubed
    1 tsp nutmeg
    1 tbsp garlic powder
    water

Directions

Brown the venison and onion in a dutch oven. My pans let me do this without oil, your's may not. Remove from heat. Add the potatoes and carrots. Stir well. Add water to just cover the potatoes, carrots and meat. Add the nutmeg and garlic powder. Put the pan back on the burner and bring the water to a boil. Reduce the heat and let simmer for about 2 hours. The water will slowly dissapate, do not worry. About 10 minutes before it is really 'done' the potatoes will change appearance, and your pot will look like stew.
