Ingredients

1/4 Cup Butter
1/4 Cup Apple sauce
4 oz unsweetened Chocolate
1 Cup Apple sauce
1 Cup cooked beets
4 Eggs
1 Cup brown sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
1.5 Cups Flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 Cup Wheat Germ
1 Cup Almonds, finely chopped
Directions
Over low heat melt together butter, 1/4 cup applesauce and chocolate. When melted remove from heat and set aside.
Beat eggs until light in color and foamy. Add sugar and vanilla and mix until combined.
Mix together beets and 1 cup applesauce in blender or food processor until smooth then, add to egg mixture.
Sift together flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to wet ingredients and mix until combined.
Stir in wheat germ and almonds. Spread into 9x13in pan.
Bake @ 350 degrees until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. This should take 30-40 minutes.
