Meatballs & Sauce

Introduction

This is an old family recipe that my grandmother got from a man that ran an Italian restaurant in Kansas City, Mo. This is an old family recipe that my grandmother got from a man that ran an Italian restaurant in Kansas City, Mo.
Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1 lb. 93% lean ground beef
    1/4 c. bread crumbs
    1 egg
    1/4 c. grated Parmesan Cheese
    1 tbsp.. oregano
    1 tsp. basil
    9 cloves garlic, minced and separated
    2 6oz. cans tomato paste
    1 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
    1/4 c. fresh parsley or 1 tbsp. dried

Directions

Mix 3 cloves garlic, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, ground beef, 1 tsp. oregano and 1/2 tsp. basil and half of the parsley, Add salt and pepper to taste. Shape into meatballs and brown in sprayed pan. Pour out any grease after browning meat. Put tomato paste and 4 cans of water. Add garlic, salt and pepper to taste, balsamic vinegar, sugar and the rest of the parsley, oregano and basil. Bring sauce to a boil and return meatballs to pan and lower heat until the sauce and meatballs are simmering and continue to simmer for about 2 hours.

Serve over pasta or on rolls for meatball sandwiches. Recipes make about 8 (3/4 c.)servings.
