1 cup basmati rice
1/2 cup masoor daal (red lentils)
2 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/4 tsp. turmeric
1 cinnamon stick or 2 tsp ground cinnamom
3 cardamom pods or 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp ground ginger
1 clove garlic, minced
2. In a large pot heat olive oil.
3. Add onions and saute.
4. Add spices and garlic.
5. Add rice, lentils and water.
6. Bring to a boil, turn heat to low and cover for 10-15 minutes.
Makes 4 1-cup servings.
