Ground turkey stroganoff

Introduction

Ground turkey and light sour cream lighten the recipe up, while still giving a warm comfort food feel. I serve this over Whole wheat pasta. Ground turkey and light sour cream lighten the recipe up, while still giving a warm comfort food feel. I serve this over Whole wheat pasta.
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    1.25 lbs ground turkey
    1/2 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
    1/2 cup chopped onions
    3/4 cup sour cream
    1/2 cup half and half
    1/2 to one cup water
    3 cloves fresh minced garlic
    black pepper to taste

Directions

Brown the ground turkey, garlic, mushrooms and onions. When the turkey is cooked through, add the half and half, water (you may substitute 1 can cream of mushroom soup for the liquid ingredients) and sour cream, and salt/pepper to taste. Let simmer while you prepare whole wheat pasta to serve over.

  • I added some extras like green pepper & celery. But even without that little change this was great. I will try it again but this time I will try and lower the fat. It is a little high for my liking - 7/9/09
