Morning french toast

    For the toast:

    Bread, 7-grain, 5 slices
    Egg, fresh, 2 large
    Milk, 1%, .5 cup
    Granulated Sugar, .25 cup
    Vanilla Extract, 1 tsp
    Cinnamon, ground, .5 tsp
    Nutmeg, ground, .25 tsp

    For the nutty peanut butter topping:

    Pecans, .13 cup, chopped
    Almonds, about 10 kernels
    Walnuts, .13 cup, chopped
    Granulated Sugar, 2 tsp
    Peanut Butter, smooth style, 2 tbsp
    4 tbsp water

Mix eggs and milk and beat until well mix.
Add rest of ingredients.
Place bread slices, one by one in the mix and let them soak a little.
Cook in a hot, lightly oiled griddle or saucepan until brown, about one minute per side.

Top with the nutty peanut butter topping. (recipe follows):

In a small sauce pan, heat the water and sugar to make a simple syrup. When throughly heated, add peanut butter an stir for about a minute.
Add nuts and toss to cover. Top toast with it.
Serve warm.

Can use sugar substitute if you want a little less calories.
Serve with fruit for a wholesome breakfast.
