Tried this last night. Added more veg and used chicken italian sausage. It worked out to 8 servings for us, which reduced the calorie count by half!

Will definitely be making this again. This is an excellent base to use to create a variety of different meals. - 4/6/13

  • My husband loves dishes like this! He really like this and has requested that I make it again. I used a locally made "North Country Sausage" for the sausage - which is our favorite sausage. Root vegetables make this a healthier way to prepare sausage. - 9/30/10

  • WONDERFUL recipe. I substituted Jenni-O turkey sausage and cooked it beforehand before adding it to the recipe, which took some calories out. I cut the carrots on the bias, and used regular carrots instead of baby carrots and they were cooked to perfection. - 4/13/10

  • I enjoyed the hearty dish. Simple, Easy, and tasty.
( wish the sausage wouldn't have so much salt) Maybe I can look for a lower sodium sausage next time. - 2/11/10

  • We weren't that impressed. It took longer than the recipe said, even after cooking for 1.5 hours I had to put the carrots in the micowave to get them tender enough for my kids to eat. Thanks, but no thanks - 11/30/09
