Greek Yogurt (Homemade)

Introduction

You must have a yogurt maker to use this particular recipe, but it is worth the investment...homemade tastes so much better than store bought!!! You must have a yogurt maker to use this particular recipe, but it is worth the investment...homemade tastes so much better than store bought!!!
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 Qt Goats Milk
5 grams Yogourmet Freeze Dried Yogurt Starter Cultures (1 pkt)

Directions

Heat milk in a saucepan to 110-115 degrees, if you do not have a thermometer it is the right temp when it starts to get bubbles around the edges, steam rises from the top, & you can hold you index finger in for 20 seconds. Do not put in cultures if it is too hot or they will die.
Pour a little of the milk in a small bowl & mix with cultures, then pour back into the pan & mix well.
Pour into 6 individual containers & place in yogurt maker. Cook according to machine instructions, or for 6-10 hours to desired thickness & tartness. **The longer you leave it in, the thicker & more tart it becomes.**
After cooking time, let come to room temperature then place in the fridge for at least 2 hours before serving.
Serve with honey & berries, if desired. Or add a splenda and any other fruit you would like. So much better than what you get at the store!!
