Marinated Steak with Carrots & Herbs in Lettuce

Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1 1/4 lb skirt steak
    2/3 cup hoisin sauce, divided
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    spray cooking oil
    1 head Boston lettuce, leaves separated
    3 medium carrots, peeled and julienned
    1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, chopped
    1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
    1 small red onion, thinly sliced



Directions

1. Rinse steak and pat dry. Place the meat in a heavy-duty resealable plastic bag with 1/2 cup of the hoisin sauce and the garlic. Seal bag and turn until the steak is coated. Marinate at room temperature, turning bag occasionally, for 30 minutes.

2. Preheat broiler. Lightly spray broiler pan with oil. REmove steak from the marinade (discard leftover marinade) and place on the broiler pan. Broil about 4 inches from the heat, turning once, about 6 minutes per side for medium rare. Add or reduce cooking time to suit your taste. Transfer meat to a cutting board and let stand for 5 minutes. Cut meat into thin slices.

3. Arrange the lettuce, carrots, onion and herbs in seperate bowls/plates.

4. To serve fill a lettuce leaft with steak, vegetables and herbs. Drizzle with remaining hoisin sauce.
