Indian Style Baked Fish

Submitted by: KOMAL53

Introduction

This is a light way of cooking Fish Fillets and healthier too.The main object is to marinate the Fish and then bake or grill it so as to keep the use of Oil to a minimum.Any fish can be used but we use Pomfret or Tilapia as these are easier to cook. The baking time can be altered for thicker Fillets or Fish Steaks.A whole large Fish can also be used if so desired only the marinating and cooking times will then vary. Ingredients

    250gms.(8oz.)Fish Fillets
    1.5tbsps.Ginger-Garlic Paste
    1tsp.Turmeric Powder
    1.5tbsp.Red Chilli Powder
    1tsp.Curry Powder(MDH Kitchen King)
    1tsp.Carom Seeds(Ajwain/Ajma/Oavaa)
    1tbsp.Greek (Thick)Yoghurt(Curd/Dahi)
    OR
    2tbsp.Lemon Juice
    Salt to taste

Directions

Mix together the Yoghurt/Lemon Juice with the Red Chilly Powder,Turmeric Powder,Ginger- Garlic Paste,Carom Seeds,Curry Powder and Salt to a smooth mixture.Marinate the Fish fillets in this for 30minutes.Heat the oven at 180degrees Celsius.Line a baking tray with foil.Drain each Fillet of the marinade and place on the foil.Bake for 5-6 minutes on each side turning the Fillets to brown evenly on both sides.Baste with a little marinade if desired. The yoghurt imparts a better flavour but some folks are finicky about using Dairy products and Fish together.Serve hot as a side dish or as a main dish with Soup and Salad.
