Spice Rubbed Beef

Ingredients

2.5lb beef top sirloin
olive oil, salt & pepper, as needed
1.5Tbsp garlic powder
1.5Tbsp thyme
1.5Tbsp chili powder
1C diced onion
1C tomato sauce
2C beef broth
Directions
Cook in 325 degree oven:
Coat all sides of beef with light coating of olive oil. Mix garlic, thyme, chili powder, salt & pepper. Rub spice mixture on all sides of the beef.
Heat 2Tbsp olive oil in skillet. Brown beef for about 5 minutes each side. Remove and set on baking dish with cover. In oil, cool onions for about 4 minutes. Add sauce & broth and bring to a simmer. Pour liquid around beef, cover and cook until tender. About 3 hours and 45 minutes.
Allow pan to sit about 15 minutes before serving.
