sodium is way too high for a single serving - do not use the packet of taco seasoning. Use some cumin, crushed red pepper flakes, cliantro and chili powder - great flavor - no added salt. - 11/6/08

Looks like a great recipe idea - I think I agree with the black beans, throw a couple tablespoons of yellow corn and diced bell pepper and you have a true "sante fe" turkey taco salad treat!!! - 8/30/08

I make this but without the beans and the taco seasoning, I just use more salsa. I usually eat 10 cups of Romaine, 10 oz of turkey, 2 oz of spicy blue corn chips, 2 oz of 2% cheese and 14 tbsp of salsa. Mix everything but meat, cook meat then add last usually on top of the salsa and mix it in. - 11/21/08

I used ff cheese, the lowest sod chips I could find. I also subituted my own sauce. Lemon Juice, chili powder, chili peppers and tad low sod soy to make my own chili sauce it was great w/ a dab of ff sour cream. First time I have ever enjoyed ground turkey. Also good on top of a small baked potatoe. - 3/21/09

  • That picture has nothing to do with that recipe. It has fritos, black beans and some sort of sour cream. Which sounds better , actually I'd probably try for extra lean ground beef or grass-fed. There is no substitute for the packaged taco seasoning for old-fashioned flavor- I've tried. - 5/8/13

  • To stretch the recipe and add flavor, I dice fresh zucchini in and add to the browned turkey, then add the taco seasoning (you can find lower sodium versions in the supermarket if you don't want to mix your own). • If salt/fat is the problem I make this style of salad w/ flour tortillas instead of corn chips. I take a small-ish metal (oven-proof) bowl and bend the tortilla into a bowl shape and heat in a medium oven for 10-12 minutes. Once golden, it needs to rest a few minutes to harden. Fill w/salad/meat. - 8/18/12
