I have made this for years using canned mandarin oranges. The fresh fruit is a wonderful variation. I would suggest saving the dressing for just before serving though. - 3/19/09

My sister-in-law makes this, and adds toasted walnuts and gorgonzola cheese - and skips the blueberries. - 3/20/09

My mom started making this salad with strawberries and sometimes mango's years ago. We use a vidallia onion vinagrette dressing and it is great. I will have to try this one with blueberries and raspberries next time I make it. - 3/19/09

  • I make this and I warm up (my home-made) dressing along with a little bit of grated cooked egg & crumbled bacon. Don't be scared of the bacon - a tiny bit works and you can use all-natural organic bacon. Blueberries are best for this version. - 9/9/11

  • Our local grocery store even carries a version of this on their salad bar (no onions, walnuts instead of almonds). That got me hooked; now I just make my own and love it. - 9/9/11
