Turkey Chili

Introduction

This is a delicious, easy, healthy chili recipe. It is good as a vegetarian dish, as well. Just leave out the ground turkey. Good served with low-fat shredded cheese, low-fat sour cream (or Greek yogurt), and/or guacamole. (Additional calories were not included in the nutritional calculation.) Ingredients

    - 1 lb. ground turkey
    - 2 cloves garlic, crushed
    - 1/2 C. onion, chopped
    - 1 15 oz. can chick peas (garbanzo beans)
    - 1 15 oz. can red kidney beans
    - 1 15 oz. can black beans
    - 1 28 oz. can crushed (or diced) tomatoes (with or without seasoning)
    - 1/8 tsp. ground cayenne pepper (more or less to taste)
    - 1/4 tsp. chili powder (more or less to taste)

Directions

1. Brown ground turkey with the crushed garlic in a large pot.
2. Empty the beans into a colander, rinse and let drain while the turkey is browning.
3. Add the beans, tomatoes, chili powder, and cayenne pepper to the ground turkey in the pot and stir to combine all the ingredients.
4. Bring to a boil. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring once or twice. Adjust seasonings to taste.

Makes 7 1-cup servings
