I love this recipe! I threw an orange in the food processor instead of juice and skipped the rice and oranges and just had this over some plain stir-fried veggies! YUM! I also added garlic to the sauce..Big hit with everyone, kids and adults! - 1/27/09

This was great! So quick and easy ingredients to keep on hand! I made it with the brown rice (which took longer to make than the chicken!) and then steamed snap peas in the microwave. - 12/16/08

I just made this and it's absolutely wonderful! Oddly enough, I just saw an ad on tv for orange chicken from a local Chinese restaurant. This is better by far, cheaper, and so much healthier. This was so easy and the spices were just right. Thanks for sharing it. - 2/8/10

Very delicious. I didn't change anything. I only stopped myself from eating more than one serving by reminding myself I can have leftovers in the future! Just piquant enough without being too spicy. - 1/15/10

I really liked this dish. It was simple to prepare and very low in calories. I did add sauteed celery and onions to cut down on the sweetness. Was it as good as take-out ----no, but very good for a lightened dish. I will make it again. - 1/9/10

The entire family was thrilled with this recipe and demanded that I add it to our regular menu. I did add more cornstarch to thicken the sauce a bit more. I put brown rice in the bowls, a layer of broccoli and then the chicken on top. The sauce dripped down and flavored everything. Fantastic! - 2/10/10

WOW!!! I would take this over any restaurant orange chicken ANY day! Yumm - I can't wait to make it again. My kids thought even 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes was too much (I sprinkled extra over my portion) but I will just keep making it so they get used to it. It's really not too spicey! :) - 1/16/10

My 7 year old was quite happy as he helped me make this. He ate every bit of his and said, it smelled great... We used some ginger from a whole foods market and really was tasty. I' m not sure if the oranges were supposed to resemble oranges, or if I just cooked it longer than I was supposed to. - 1/13/10

YUMMO, this was AWESOME...it presents just like PF Chang's Lemon Chicken (except it was orange, LOL). I can not WAIT to make this again! The recipe does not say what to do with the actual mandarin oranges, so I added them right at the end of the chicken cooking (in the pan). FABULOUS!!! - 4/9/09

  • The nutritional values are deceiving - 1/2 cup of cooked brown rice is used in determining carbs and calories for one serving despite using 2 cups raw in the recipe to cook which would make 4 one cup servings ie double what is claimed. - 8/15/11

  • this was just a crowd pleaser! i added sugar snap peas, bell peppers, broccoli, bean sprouts, carrots and almonds in, and made a little more of the sauce. the cornstarch spilled into the sauce when i was pouring, but it didnt end up ruining the recipe. - 8/3/11

  • YummOOOOO! This is so delicious and easy to make. Everyone loved it both young and old alike. I love take out orange chicken but wanted to be able to make it at home whenever I wanted. • Just found this recipe while looking for something to do with leftover chicken. Really loved the taste although I forgot to add the garlic (opps, my fault!) Think I reduced the sauce a bit too much as it wouldn't have stretched to four portions but was fine for two! - 1/3/11

  • This was so easy to make and tasted so good! We added broccoli to it as well, and that made it really filling. We actually added too much red pepper and ginger, but it still tasted good, so I imagine it would be awesome with less of those flavors :) - 12/4/10

  • This was better with the addition of Sriracha hot chili sauce. I simmered this longer which broke down the mandarin oranges into much smaller pieces - my family wouldn't like large pieces of mandarin orange, but were fine when these were small. Great meal! - 10/29/10

  • This was really good and my husband who is picky really liked it also. Not that it is "as good" as the fattening Chinese take out but it will curb your craving for Chinese and your eating much healthier!! I also added some extra corn starch to thicken it up and some veggies :-) - 10/21/10

  • I'm sure it tastes great but on what scale is this low carb! even without the rice, the cornstarch, honey, oj, and oranges make this a very high carb dish. Please use caution when posting your recipies. - 10/19/10

  • it was ok. it needed something more, soy sauce or something i'm not sure. husband ate half then threw his in the trash, i dont think he was a fan either. it was fast though and the mandarin oranges were a good addition. - 7/17/10
