Simple Venison Stew

Submitted by: NONINEKO

Introduction

My favourite slow-cooker recipe. I usually use deer roast, by the time it's done cooking it's broken apart into delicious bite-sized pieces. This is not a very healthy recipe, but it's a great special treat on cold winter nights, and even the pickiest eater should enjoy. My favourite slow-cooker recipe. Ingredients

    1 lg deer roast
    1 can of peas
    2 large russet potatoes
    Water
    Butter
    Salt & pepper (to taste)
    2.5 cups white rice

Directions

-Place the deer roast in the bottom of your crock-pot.
-Peel and quarter the two potatoes, and add to the crock-pot.
-Rinse the canned peas thoroughly, and then add to crock pot.
-Add in 1 tbsp of butter.
-Fill the rest of the crock-pot with water (you could also add a bit of beef bouillon for extra flavour)
-Set crock-pot to high, and let cook for approximately 8-10 hours (we usually prep this before leaving for work, so it's ready when we get home).
-When the stew is ready, turn the slow-cooker down to low while you make the rice.
-When the rice is ready, place the rice and stew in a bowl, add salt and pepper to taste and enjoy!

*Makes 4 large bowls.
