Italian Sausage Mac & Cheese

Submitted by: HELEENAMOM

Introduction

We went to a meal once and someone had made Italian Sausage with peppers and onions. We also had Kraft Mac & Chees on our plate. We ended up mixing them and found ourselves in love with the combination. We have since made it a bit healthier and use it as a regular meal around our home! You can change things to fit your preference this is just how i prepare it. We went to a meal once and someone had made Italian Sausage with peppers and onions. Ingredients

    Hot Italian Chicken Sausage
    Kraft Mac & Cheese (Box)
    Promise Butter Sticks
Sliced Onions & Peppers ( I used Wegmans Prepared in this recipe)
    1% Milk

Directions

In Pan place your Italian Sausage with a cup of water, let simmer with a lid on it until fully cooked. At the end I let the water cook off so it gets a little dark around the sausage. Make sure to rotate them.
In a seperate pan take 1/2 your butter and all your onions and peppers and saute.
In a pot boil your water and then cook your Mac & Cheese as you normally would.

After your noodles are fully cooked and drained place the other 1/2 of the butter into noodles along with your milk and cheese packet.

Once your Peppers & Onions are nicely cooked but not brown place in Mac & Cheese and mix.

After you have fully cooked your Sausage cut in half then cut into pieces. Mix this into the pot of Mac & Cheese.

Wahla! You have what we call Campfire Mac & Cheese. (Because we discovered it at the pot luck while we were camping.
Enjoy!
