Basic White Bread (Hand Made)

Introduction

This is just a basic white bread loaf, as found on the back of Yeast packets

Prep time doesn't include the time for the bread to rise.

Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

    500g Strong white bread flour
    2 oz of Butter
    1 1/4 tsp Salt
    1 1/2 tsp dried yeast
    300ml luke warm water

Directions

Rub the butter into the Flour, when fully mixed stir in the rest of the dry ingredients.
Slowly mix in the water until the dough forms and cleans the sides of the bowl.

Kneed the dough for 10 minutes, until well stretched. and then put it back in the bowl, cover and leave in a warm place for 30minutes or so (until doubled in size). Kneed the dough again for 5-10 minutes and shape and put on baking tray or in tins.

Preheat an oven to gas mark 7/8 and when the dough has doubled in size again cook in the oven for 20-35 minutes (until golden brown, and when the loaf is tapped, on the bottom it sounds hollow)
