Introduction

Another child hood Favourite this can be made with any meat---Goat,Lamb,Chicken or Turkey depending on taste.This makes an ideal dish for Dinner on cold winter nights.The Barley adds wholesome taste and flavour to this dish. Ingredients

    400gms.Chicken Thigh pieces,skinned
    100gms.raw Pearl Barley
    400gms.Mixed Vegetables cut in chunks(Cauliflower,Carrots,Broccoli,Zuchini,French Beans)
    2large ripeTomatoes cut into 8 pieces each
    16small Pearl Onions
    4 cubes Maggi Chicken Bouillon
    2tbsps. Whole Wheat Flour
    2tbsps.Lea&Perrins Worcestershire Sauce
    6 pats of Unsalted Butter
    1tsp.Black Pepper Powder
    Salt to taste
    4 Whole Wheat Dinner Rolls


Directions

In a thick bottomed Pan fry the Chicken on low heat in half the unsalted Butter.Add Water to cover and the washed Pearl Barley. Boil the Chicken thighs and Barley till half cooked.Add the Vegetables,Onions and Tomatoes and lower heat.Stir in the Lea&Perrins sauce,Bouillon Cubes and Black Pepper Powder.If needed add a dash of Salt.Simmer on low flame.
Heat the remaining Unsalted Butter in a small frying pan and fry the Flour in it till browned.Mix a little of the liquid from the Chicken and Vegetables in it to make a smooth paste.Stir in the paste into the Stew.Simmer till the Chicken is cooked and the gravy is thickened.Serve hot with toasted Whole Wheat Dinner Rolls for a tasty and healthy meal.
