Country Chef Cube Steak

Introduction

A different take on the basic cube steak. A different take on the basic cube steak.
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    1 lb cube steak
    1/2 tsp salt
    3 Tbsp oil
    1 Tbsp brown sugar
    1/2 tsp dry mustard
    1/4 cup water
    2 Tbsp worchestershire sauce
    1/4 cup flour
    1/8 tsp pepper
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 green pepper, cut in strips
    1/2 cup catsup
    2 Tbsp vinegar

Directions

Coat meat with mixture of flour, salt, and pepper. Brown meat in oil with onion and green pepper strips. Stir in brown sugar, mustard, catsup, water, vinegar, and worchestershire sauce. Cover and simmer 15 minutes or until steak is tender.

  • This was really good, and tender! I love that the veggies are cooked in with it, making this a great one pot meal! I had to swap out ingredients for food allergies, so I don't know what the original recipe tastes like, but Frank's Red Hot and and plain tomato sauce work well in place of catsup. - 2/11/11
